Haelan turns one! And here's what I've learnt...

12 whole months since I opened the doors to my baby, Haelan Naturopathy, and what a wild ride it has been. I feel so blessed to be able to be a naturopath and help people with their health everyday - it truly is the best job in the world. Below are 12 things I have learnt in the past 12 months; not only in business but also from my whole life that is forever evolving.

  1. Action creates action

The moment I stopped wishing my life would look a certain way and started acting like it was a certain way everything changed. I can relate this directly to my business; 7 months ago I was hardly seeing clients and I thought I would never be a busy naturopath and I would always need to do side hustles in order to make good $$$. So instead of crying about it (which I did plenty of, don’t worry) I hired a social media company, I did (and still do) professional mentoring, I listened to business podcasts, I hired business mentors, I did so much up-skilling and showing up in my business, and my books have never been busier.

  2. Imposter syndrome is here to stay, learn to tame that lil bitch

Imposter syndrome doesn’t go away; and the more naturopaths I speak in the industry acknowledge that she’s here for life but you can learn to master it and turn it into a superpower

  3. healing the gut will fix 99% of your problems

I’ve said it once, I’ve said it twice and I’ll probably never stop saying it! Healing the gut sees the biggest transformations in my clients health and my own health

  4. professional & personal development has changed my life

Investing in personal and professional development has given me more answers than years of fumbling around trying to figure things out on my own ever could

  5. quality over quantity

Quality relationships, food, clothes, friendships, drinks, time > quantity. The older I get the more apparent this is for me

  6. mum was right, loving yourself as you get older does get easier

Anyone who knows me knows loving myself has not come easy and this is something I have to actively work on daily. But I remember in the throws of hard times I thought it would never get easier but it actually does (side note always listen to your mum)

  7. outsourcing is not lazy, it creates space for the things you enjoy

Accepting this has been a game changer for my business! Trying to be a business owner, partner, friend, daughter, dog mum, cleaner, cook and on top of that make reels, create content, do email marketing, do inventory, etc. is a big no from me. The more outsourcing I bring into my life the happier I am, simply because it leaves me with more space for all the good shit I want to enjoy in my life

  8. if you’re in a longterm relationship, chances are you need couples counselling

YUP, I said what I said… your partner is the closest person to you and investing in this relationship to ensure it is as conscious and conducive to who you want to be and where you want to go is invaluable

  9. dopamine hacking works & i am never looking back

Dr Huberman knows what’s up with dopamine hacking, all of his scientific research on how we can increase dopamine with simple daily practices are here to stay. My mental health and motivation has never been better since introducing these hacks into my life and these are things I encourage my clients to do daily

  10. rest actually fosters productivity

SAY THIS AGAIN! REST IS NOT BEING LAZY, REST MAKES US PRODUCTIVE AND MORE EFFECTIVE THAN WE CAN IMAGINE.

  11. being accountable for your actions & owning your shit makes you powerful

This was a very hard one for me to learn, and still takes a huge conscious effort. I spent so much of my life blaming others for why it was the way it was and guess what, it never changed. The more I wasted energy on trying to find the external reasons for the way I was feeling, the shitter my life got. The moment I started taking accountability for my life, the way I felt and everything in between, is the moment my life changed and continues to change. Blaming others or situations or circumstances makes you completely powerless, owning your life and situations makes you so powerful!

  12. the relationships in my life are blessings & i couldn’t do it without you all

“You are only as good as the company you keep” and f*ck I’ve got some top notch company. I have not enough words in my vocabulary to explain how truly grateful and blessed I am for the people in my life; my partner, friends, family, mentors and the list goes on. These people have pushed me, moulded me and shaped me into the naturopath and person I am today. I will always be indebted to so many beautiful people who surround me - you all know who you are xx

I want to say a massive thank you to all my past and current clients - thank you for trusting me with your health and I cannot wait to see what the next 12 months will bring!
